"The Party's Over" is my second album, successor to "Dark Blue Moonlight".
During the recording of this album, I wanted to make music that evokes emotions and controls to the many listeners throughout the world. Not only that but i wanted to actually write songs, before i start to sing, putting them in order where the intro, the verses and the choruses went, so on and so forth. It was really complex experience to do.
"The Party's Over" demonstrates a lot of variety of musical styles, each and every song, including post-punk, indie/alt rock, synthpop, new wave, trip hop, industrial rock, art rock and dub/reggae. Whose main objective was to diversify and not sticking in the same old post-punk-y/darkwave-ish style on my previous album. And as a result, it is slightly more focused, musically, vocally and lyrically, than "Dark Blue Moonlight".

In thematic terms, relates my personal experiences after seeing the news on TV or on social media, in the days of COVID-19, quarantine, the death of George Floyd, Brexit and the 45th US presidential candidate, as well as fear, alienism, apocalypse, global pandemic, the death of beloved celebrities (including musicians) of the years 2016 and 2020, the fight against the music industry (which has become increasingly dirty, vulgar, hateful and pornographic in various situations) and my teenage nightmares (I won't say what kind of worst nightmares i've had, it's a secret).

The choice of the title of the new album "The Party's Over", because this year has been catastrophic due to the pandemic, as well as the corruptions and job losses. Although I included only one song about partying on my album, from time to time I usually ironize things. My lyrics become half poetic, half nonsense (well, many of them are typically nonsense) and half autobiographical, all at the same time. I am not very interested in politics, but I am more interested in my personal experience about the events that are happening on our planet. The album cover (made by me), with a black background colour and a text font written in dark grey, is quite appropriate because the songs demonstrate the darker side of Black Cat. This damn year there will be no concerts, no parties and no celebrations. Everything is empty, dark, strange and erased.

The Netflix series "DARK" and "Stranger Things", as well as The Chameleons' "Strange Times", The Stranglers "Rattus Norvergicus" and Felt's "Forever Breathes The Lonely Word", were my main inspirations when it comes to songwriting on "The Party's Over".

And when I saw the film "Contagion" by Steven Soderbergh (director of "Ocean's Eleven"), another source of inspiration in my new work, I came to think. "Was this done in the early 2010s before the pandemic? Well, this is happening now." And so, I decided to choose which songs will be part of "The Party's Over".
The recordings and productions of the album were made in Pro Tools 12 software, in majority of the songs, at my house, in Lisbon. From the beginning of 2019 until the end of September 2020.
